Hi Team,
Here is an update from our meeting on Tuesday. Please note we have two outreach activities we need students to join if they can.
Fall Meetings
Now that school is back in session we are back to our regular meeting cadence of every Tuesday from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. The only week we are not planning to have a meeting is for fall break.
Outreach on Saturday
We have two outreach activities this Saturday and we need Students and Mentors to support.
Oxford FTC Kickoff @ OHS from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Saturday is the big day when our 4 middle school teams receive their challenge and start their build season. We will again be hosting them in our room and the media center at OHS. Before their reveal broadcast we will be providing them pizza (from our sponsor, Antoniou’s Town Square Pizza) and letting them see the room and our robots at 11:30. Then we will be watching their game reveal in the Media Center to see what their challenge and be prepared to help give advice and mentor them throughout their season. After the game reveal we can clean up and depart to let their coaches get them started on defining the robots they will be building for the challenge.
Please RSVP for this event if you can make it. See the attached image below for a walk through of how to RSVP.
MENTORS: We also need one adult who is able to pick up the pizza from Anotiou’s at 11 and bring it back to the high school. Please reach out to me directly if you can help in this area.
TEAM Kiribati virtual support at 9:00 PM
Kiribati is entering the last couple weeks of building their robot before they travel to Greece to compete in this years FIRST Global competition. So far we have helped them with programming, mechanical and documentation advice. We need to resume meeting with them Saturday night to help answer any questions they may have as they approach the finish line. Please plan to attend if you can this Saturday night.
After this Weekend
We have a busy few weeks ahead to get us to the last week of September. This coming Tuesday (9/10) we will continue working on last year’s robot (Treble) to get it ready for the Kettering Kickoff competition on 9/22. We also need to finish getting our t-shirt launcher (S.A.M. for Super Awesome Machine) running again for our next home game against Lake Orion on 9/20. It is a great opportunity for new students to see experienced student working on a few of our robots before we start our fall training at the 9/24 meeting.
On 9/17 we will be having our annual Info Night for Parents and Students where we will be discussing our season ahead and participation requirements to be on this year’s travel team before giving parents a tour of our room and sub teams. Please mark your calendar as everyone should plan to be at this meeting.
Looking forward to seeing folks for our outreach this weekend,
-Ian
